Twitter is cracking down on inappropriate tweets and hate speech in their newest update to the site’s terms and conditions.

While the social media giant has been taking steps towards becoming a safer environment for a while now, the changes that were implemented on Tuesday may have the most impact on users.

Direct threats have been banned by the site since late 2014, but now any tweet or comment that even promotes violence, harasses another user, or reveals someone else’s personal info could land you one of three new punishments:

1. Time Out — You could be locked out of your account for a set period of time relative to the degree at which you broke the rules.

2. Verification — You may have to re-enter account information, such as your phone number, as an annoyance to deter future outbursts.

3. Deletion — Your account could be locked with the only option being to delete the tweet in question.

Sounds good to us!
