When Carmen Carrera sat down on Friday night to watch Bruce Jenner‘s interview with Diane Sawyer, she wasn’t sure how it would go.
But as soon as Bruiser announced his transition, the transgender model immediately connected to someone who she always considered a stranger:
“I was emotional too. I was really into it the whole time. I felt like even though I’ve never met Bruce Jenner in my life, at the end of the interview, I had such an amazing feeling inside.”
The Olympian has received such a strong outpouring of support since he bravely announced he’d be transitioning into a woman. Celebs like Ellen DeGeneres, Jimmy Fallon, and Snooki have all expressed their pride and admiration for Bruce’s courage.
But the rich and the famous aren’t the only ones showing Bruce some love. People all over the world are painting their nails in support of the reality TV star.
Carmen echoes these feelings, and adds that she thinks Bruiser’s bravery will help educate the American public about the transgender community in a way they hadn’t been before:
“It gave me a feeling of that for once in the world, people can say that they know a transgender person and that person is Bruce Jenner. I feel like everyone knows the Kardashians and everybody knows of Bruce for a long time too.”
Just like Carmen, we are incredibly proud of Bruce and are so glad his story is making such huge strides for the trans community!
( From Perez: Bruce stated in the interview to use “he” and “him” so we will do so in our coverage until that changes. )
