Caught In The Grindr: Yet Another Gay Scandal Involving A Politician!

Randy Boehning

Now how does this make sense?!

A 12-year member of North Dakota’s state assembly, Republican Randy Boehning, was revealed to have a profile on Grindr, a popular app amongst gay, bi, and curious guys. The Grindr profile in question is that of ├óΓé¼╦£Top Man!’ and has the description:

“Seems I haven’t found mister right yet, so need to keep looking for and having fun on the way! Hit me up boys.”

That’s all fine and well except Boehning is actually known for repeatedly voting against a bill that, if passed, would have included sexual orientation to the state’s anti-discrimination law. OH THE HYPOCRISY!

Boehning claims that an employee at the Capitol had mentioned to him that another lawmaker was going to out him if he continued to vote against bills granting equality and protection to gays.

The hard proof came forward when, Dustin Smith, a local 21-year-old claims he was sent an unsolicited picture of Boehning’s penis and several other messages and leaked them to The Forum earlier last month due to Boehning’s discriminatory voting.

Smith’s opinion on Boehning and his voting was perfectly summed up by his statement:

“How can you discriminate against the person you’re trying to pick up?”

Spill that T, Dustin!

When Boehning was originally confronted about the profile and pictures a month ago, he had no comment, but on Saturday, he came forward and admitted he was the owner of the profile. When asked for comment he stated that under these circumstances, it was both a personal relief and a political struggle.

We don’t know if a fellow lawmaker was involved in the outing, but Randy was unwilling to give the name of the person he thought might have been involved. That doesn’t mean he’s not going to take some action and speak to his superiors, but for the moment he was more concerned about political fallout with his own party, stating:

“You don’t tell everyone you’re going to vote one way and then switch your vote another way ├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥ you don’t have any credibility that way.”

Even though this is a sticky and kind of shady situation, there’s still a silver lining:

Maybe this will just serve a great lesson for everyone to try and be true to who you are and not fool yourself or others for personal gain and acceptance.
