We’ve been reporting on Toya Graham, the mom who was going off on her son for participating in the Baltimore riots.
Now, her 16-year-old son is speaking out for the first time, and he regrets not listening to his mom’s sage advice!
Michael Singleton was supposed to go straight home from school on Monday after Freddie Gray‘s funeral. But instead, he joined his friends rioting in the streets.
The high schooler knew he made the wrong choice when his mom showed up as he was throwing rocks at police. While he was embarrassed at the scolding, he wasn’t surprised, explaining:
“Everybody knows my mama. All my friends know my mama.”
Singleton now gets why his single mother of six is being hailed as “Mother of the Year,” after her scolding went viral.
Graham didn’t want her son to be one of the dozens of teens arrested for participating in the riots. She made it clear that behavior of that sort would not be tolerated under her roof:
“As long as I have breath in my body, you will not be on the streets selling drugs. You’re just not gonna live like that. Not with me.”
