We knew Avengers: Age Of Ultron would be big, but WOW!
The superhero sequel made $27.6 million on Thursday night, obliterating Marvel‘s record for preview night showings (previously held by the first Avengers, which pulled in $18.7 mil).
That number places it fourth all-time in preview nights, behind Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 2 ($43.5 mil), and Twilight Saga movies Breaking Dawn Part 1 ($30.3 mil) and Eclipse ($30.1 mil).
The film is currently tracking at $190-200 million, which would NOT break the original’s record of biggest opening of all time ($207.4 mil).
But with advance ticket sales going through the roof, they could even exceed those numbers!
MovieTickets.com reports that Age Of Ultron has quadrupled the first Avengers‘ advance take, while Fandango says it’s selling as much as ALL OF THE PREVIOUS MARVEL MOVIES COMBINED!
The movie already crossed $300 mil worldwide, so whether or not it’s the biggest movie of all time doesn’t REALLY matter.
But we’re going to be very curious to see if Robert Downey Jr. and co. can take down their past selves. (Ooh, someone write down THAT idea for a future movie!)
