This is so sad, but what a legacy to leave behind.
Ben E. King, who was most famous for being the co-writer and singer of the song Stand By Me, passed away from natural causes on Thursday.
He was 76 years old.
King first rose to stardom as the singer of the timeless doo-wop group The Drifters before leaving for a lucrative solo career of his own.
He released Stand By Me in 1961 and it quickly became a US top five hit and also inspired a totally amazing movie later on down the line.
Fellow legendary musician Gary US Bonds took to Facebook to offer up a tribute to his friend. He wrote:
This is definitely a big loss for the music world and music fans in general. But like we said before, his musical legacy is ensured until the end of time.
RIP Ben E. King. Your time on this Earth was one magic moment.
