It hasn’t been very long since Joan Rivers passed away, but the thought of how it all happened is hard to comprehend.

In a sit down with Matt Lauer on the Today show which airs on Monday morning, the 47-year-old believes her mother’s death could’ve been avoided.

Melissa said:

“In my opinion, it was 100 percent preventable.”

The journalist went on to ask Melissa what she thought the clinic could’ve done to prevent Joan’s death and she responded with:

“How about paying attention to the vital signs? How about having a properly equipped crash cart?”

Those are some very viable questions.

Listen to what Melissa had to say when Matt asked her about her first thoughts when she stepped into the hospital room (below).
