“Driving drunk woo…I’ll be dead thanks to you…Lata.”
That was the text Mila Dago sent to her ex-boyfriend just moments before a fatal crash that claimed the life of her passenger.
The alleged drunk driving accident that killed 22-year-old Irinia Reinoso occurred back in August 2013, but new evidence shows just how distracted — and inebriated — Mila was.
Mila was reportedly in the midst of a breakup, and sent her ex a barrage of 60 text messages:
“Have a nice life idiot…I’m tired of having to put you with your short temper and unreasonable attitude.”
“I’m done you ruined me…you’ll be the death of me.”
Ends up Mila’s devastating lack of judgement is what led to Irinia’s death when she ran a red light and crashed her SmartCar into a moving truck. Irinia was pronounced dead a the scene. Mila’s blood alcohol level was .178, more than twice the legal limit.
Surveillance video caught a portion of the fatal accident:
Mila, now 24, was charged with two DUIs/serious bodily injury, DUI/manslaughter and manslaughter. She is still awaiting trial.
Let this be a lesson: don’t drink and drive. And don’t text and drive.
