Why Did Will And Kate Name Baby No. 2 Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana?! Get The Scoop Behind The Royal Moniker HERE!

Princess Charlotte Has One Heck Of A Name

Kate Middleton and Prince William‘s daughter has a new name fitting the little princess she is!!

On Monday, Kensington Palace officials confirmed that the newborn had been named Charlotte Elizabeth Diana! Perfection!

Her official title is: Her Royal Highness Princess Charlotte of Cambridge! But secretly we hope they give her a nickname like Charlie or Char!!

But where did they get the beautiful baby’s moniker from?!

Well, many believe that Charlotte is a nod to grandpa Prince Charles — since it’s the female form of his name.

But, both auntie Pippa Middleton and grandma Carole Middleton‘s middle names are Charlotte. That’s convenient — three birds, one stone? LOLz!

Without question, the middle name Elizabeth is for the reigning Monarch and royal matriarch, Queen Elizabeth II. Too bad Prince George‘s little sister is fourth in line to the throne — Queen Elizabeth III has a ring to it!

And of course, the royal tot’s final name is meant to honor Prince William’s late mother, Diana. Tissues, anyone?!

However, there was a Queen Charlotte married to King George III — but that just might make for awkward dinner jokes. HA!

We’re excited to see if the newborn will follow in her mother’s fashionista footsteps or perhaps we’ll have a royal tomboy! Regardless, we’re thrilled the royal family is happy and healthy.

Make sure to send us an invite to the christening!
