Everyone’s Favorite Wedding Singer Rapping Granny Has Passed Away At 101 Years Old

Wedding Singer - Rapping Granny

Ellen Albertini Dow, the HIGHlarious, adorable rapping granny from Adam Sandler‘s hit comedy, The Wedding Singer passed away last night. She lived a long life to the age of 101!

Dow had quite the ride though! Not only did she study acting, but she also worked with famous mimes, Marcel Marceau and Jacques LeCog in Paris and was part of a comedy act that toured the Catskills!

Ellen, along with her husband Eugene Dow, later settled down out West where she taught in the theater department at Los Angeles City College. Mr. and Mrs. Dow didn’t stop there though, as they took their efforts to Pierce College where her husband started the drama department. Albertini Dow finally retired from teaching in 1985, but the spunky little woman wasn’t done yet!

This is when she really got the ball rolling and we all got to see her talents on-screen! She decided to start studying acting at the American Film Institute and soon landed roles in The Twilight Zone, The Golden Girls, The Wonder Years, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Seinfeld, Scrubs, Wedding Crashers and even as recent projects as New Girl and Family Guy.

We don’t think there’s a doubt in anyone’s mind what she’ll be remembered for most though. Her rendition of Rapper’s Delight in The Wedding Singer not only stole the show but stole our hearts. You’ll be missed Ellen, we only ask, drop that beat one more time (below)!
