We can’t believe it either!
One of our favorite sitcoms, The Mindy Project has officially gotten the axe from Fox. The half-hour comedy, starring funny woman Mindy Kaling only graced us with its presence for three seasons.
We’re not getting too down in the dumps yet though. Not only is Variety is reporting that The Mindy Project is in talks to continue their show on Hulu — possibly for up to two more seasons! — but Mindy seems to be in bright spirits about the bad news. Last night she posted a video on Instagram that seemed cryptically hopeful:
Hey guys, I’m in Montana, is anything happening in LA? #themindyprojectA video posted by Mindy Kaling (@mindykaling) on May 6, 2015 at 8:25pm PDT
Maybe it’s the fresh air, or maybe she’s just enjoying her vacation, but she seems pretty happy despite the sad news. Let’s hope she has some insider info and her show is only mostly dead for now.
It’s not unheard of for a deal like this to go down to keep a show alive. This past season, Community was revived via Yahoo Screen after NBC passed on its renewal, and The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt was given life on Netflix after NBC passed on the pilot.
The Mindy deal with Hulu seems like it would be a great fit as the popular streaming service already has the rights to the previous 67 episodes of the show.
Are you crossing your fingers with us that Mindy will get picked up by them?
