He’s not giving up, we’ll give him that much!
Jay Z has had a bit of a bumpy road the last month or so with the disappointing launch of his new streaming service, Tidal. But that’s not going to stop him from speaking his mind and throwing shade at all his haters!
Last night at Terminal 5 in New York, Young Hov gave an exclusive performance to Tidal subscribers and he didn’t disappoint, especially when it came to smack talk. He took some time out during his set to freestyle his thoughts on how his streaming service is all about the music while showing hints of anger and frustration. One of Jay’s lines he dropped was:
‘Oh, n***as are skeptical ’cause they own shit. You bought nine iPhones and Steve Jobs is rich. Phil Knight worth trillions you still bought those kicks. Spotify is 9 billion they ain’t say sh*t.
This isn’t the first time he’s had to go to bat for his streaming service as he took to Twitter a month ago to defend it’s disappointing start. But it is a first that he’s had a frustration-fueled tirade, cussing and calling out the likes of Apple, Youtube and Nike all while mixing in his feelings of anger over Freddie Gray, Mike Brown and Eric Garner during the rant.
You don’t have to believe us, ch-ch-check out the video of the entire performance for yourself (below). The freestyle starts about 17:15 :
