So this is awful.
While we’ve loved seeing the fabulous outfits coming from Cannes, who knew there were so many rules?
First, it was no selfies and now we’re hearing that flats are completely restricted at any of the red carpet events!
It’s being reported that at Sunday night’s premiere of Carol, several women were denied entrance because of the simple fact that they weren’t wearing heels.
That’s quite the dress code!
A spokesperson for Cannes did not comment on the supposed occurrence, but shared:
“It was obligatory for all women to wear high heels to red-carpet showings.”
Not sure that’s even necessary, especially since you can’t see what’s going on under most of the dresses anyway. And it seems Emily Blunt feels pretty similarly!
During her Sicario press conference on Tuesday, she confessed:
“I think everyone should wear flats, to be honest. We shouldn’t wear high heels anymore. That’s just my point of view I prefer to wear Converse sneakers. That’s very disappointing.”
And the film’s director, Denis Villeneuve, added his own two cents, saying:
“As a sign of protest, Benicio, Josh and I will walk the stairs in high heels tonight.”
