Laverne Cox hasn’t been shy about praising Bruce Jenner for speaking out about his personal journey, and after the second part of Keeping Up with the Kardashians: About Bruce special aired on Monday, the 30-year-old expressed her excitement for Bruce’s willingness to speak openly about his transition.
The Orange is the New Black star opened up at the Global Women’s Rights Awards in West Hollywood on Monday, stating that Jenner’s transition shows the “diversity” of the transgender community.
Cox said that Bruiser’s story needed to be treated with respect, explaining:
“I think it’s always powerful when another transgender person comes forward and speaks the truth of their experience authentically and lives visibly authentically, but those stories have to be treated with respect, and nuance.”
Cox is one of the many stars that are publicly supporting Bruce on his transition, and we couldn’t be happier!
(From Perez: Bruce stated in the interview with Diane Sawyer to use “he” and “him” so we will do so in our coverage until that changes.)
