Girl Scouts Opens Their Doors To Trans Members While The Boy Scouts Try To Lift Their Ban On Gay Scout Leaders!

The Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts are finally getting their sh*t together!

It seems crazy that in 2015 there are STILL national organizations that are actually allowed to discriminate and exclude members based on their sexual orientation or gender!

But it looks like the Boy Scouts of America might FINALLY be getting their sh*t together!!

Last year, the Boy Scouts showed a bit of promise when they finally started allowing gay members to join as scouts! But that progress doesn’t mean much when you realize they still have a ban on gay scout leaders!

Well, it sounds like that might change and SOON, as the group’s president Robert Gates says there’s NO way the ban will last! In fact, just last month the New York chapter announced they hired an openly gay scout leader as a summer camp leader!

While Robert says a change is gonna come, he also says the scouts aren’t currently asking the national board to immediately change it’s policy. So… maybe they’ll just hope it will change eventually on its own???

But while the Boy Scouts sit around a twiddle their thumbs, the Girl Scouts continue to prove they’re the much more progressive group of the two!

Four years ago, the Girl Scouts firmly announced that they were welcoming of ALL girls, and that includes any trans members!

Unfortunately, the American Family Association didn’t get that memo and tried to ban “boys in skirts” from becoming scouts, so the organization reminded AFA where they stand on the issue:

“If a girl is recognized by her family, school and community as a girl and lives culturally as a girl, Girl Scouts is an organization that can serve her in a setting that is both emotionally and physically safe.”

How freaking beautiful is that?!?!

So it looks like the Girl Scouts know a thing or two about acceptance, and maybe the Boy Scouts are FINALLY starting to learn about it!

It only took them 105 years!!!
