As a result, the 19 Kids & Counting star has stepped down from his role as Executive Director of the Family Research Council, and also announced that he didn’t keep this secret alone.
The 27-year-old added that his wife, Anna, has known about his lewd acts for years.
Now, she’s remembering what she thought when he first told her:
“I can imagine the shock many of you are going through reading this. I remember feeling that same shock. When my family and I first visited the Duggar home, Josh shared his past teenage mistakes. I was surprised at his openness and humility and at the same time didn’t know why he was sharing it. For Josh, he wanted not just me but my parents to know who he really was ├óΓé¼ΓÇ£ even very difficult past mistakes.”
The 26-year-old explains that Josh had been in counseling as a result of his actions, and that she feels it has helped him change who he is:
“He continued to do what he was taught. [I know] who Josh really is ├óΓé¼ΓÇ£ someone who had gone down a wrong path and had humbled himself before God and those whom he had offended. Someone who had received the help needed to change the direction of his life and do what is right.”
Since the scandal happened twelve years ago, the statute of limitations has passed, and Josh can’t be charged for the crimes.
We are curious, however, what this means for the popular reality show, since TLC hasn’t released a statement yet.
