He is still on the road to recovery.
Almost exactly a year after a speeding Walmart truck hit his limo and left him critically injured, Tracy Morgan gave his first interview on NBC‘s Today Show live on Monday.
Sitting down with Matt Lauer and his attorney Benedict Morelli, the comedian looked like he did before the accident last June. Morgan explained his health has improved, but he still has occasional “bad days” where he gets headaches and nosebleeds.
Though he has made a visible physical recovery, his emotional battle has proven difficult — his friend and fellow comedian James “Jimmy Mack” McNair was killed in the accident.
The 30 Rock alum got choked up when speaking about Jimmy Mack, explaining that even though the case with Walmart is settled “the pain will always be there” for his late friend.
Morgan’s emotional and physical recovery has been easier with his friends and family by his side keeping his spirits up — including former co-star Tina Fey.
Find out why the 46-year-old watched the accident repeatedly during his recovery, and also when Morgan wants to get back into performing in the interview (below):
