It’s happening, it’s really happening!
Fresh off winning his Academy Award, Eddie Redmayne has been cast in Warner Bros. Pictures upcoming Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them trilogy! If you don’t know, this film will be another wizarding adventure that’s part of the Potter-verse!
The film is based on a book written by J.K. Rowling, of the same name, and it follows a character named Newt Scamander who is the wizarding world’s preeminent magizoologist.
Through his travels he encounters and documents a wide variety of magical creatures, which then causes him to write the classic Hogwarts School textbook, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. This all takes place 70 years before the events seen in the Harry Potter films.
And who might Redmayne be playing in the film? Well none other than Newt Scamander himself of course!
Fantastic Beasts will be written by J.K. Rowling in her first screenwriting attempt and the film will be directed by David Yates, who directed the last four Harry Potter movies. Yates said of the casting news:
“Eddie is a fearless actor, brimming with invention, wit and humanity. I couldn’t be more excited about the prospect of working with him as we start this new adventure in J.K. Rowling’s wonderful world, and I know she feels the same way.”
If you’re dying to know when you can catch this next magical adventure, fear not! Warner Bros. has already set a release date for the first installment of three flicks for November 18, 2016. The only question now is, which cloak and wand will you be bringing with you?!
