We’re hoping for the best for everyone!

Earlier today, at Alton Towers Amusement Park in Alton, England, there was an accident on the roller coaster, The Smiler, when two carriages collided.

The accident occurred between one car that contained 16 people and another empty car when they came together on a low section of the track. One witness described the sound of it as “like a car crash” while hearing passengers screaming for help!

An ambulance service spokesman reported injuries of the accident by saying:

“Four teenagers suffered serious leg injuries ├óΓé¼ΓÇ£ two males and two females. They are being treated by medics. Twelve others are currently being assessed.”

There have been several people updating on Twitter and chiming in regarding the accident. There’s one from Danny Simm, a musician and songwriter, that’s particularly frightening. He tweeted a response:

The Smiler holds the Guinness World Record for the most loops in a roller coaster with 14 but that’s not entirely what it’s known for.

In July 2013, the Smiler was temporarily shut down after reports that a bolt was seen falling from the ride. Then in November, it was closed AGAIN after plastic guard wheels came loose and hit some of the riders.

Oh but there’s more! In April of 2014 roller coaster riders were reportedly trapped at about 100 feet in the air after The Smiler stopped dead at the top of a vertical section.

This just begs the question, after so many frowns, is it time to shut The Smiler down for good? Even though the video (below) makes it look fun, is it worth the risk?
