Class is BACK in session!
After wrapping up a 14-season run on TeenNick, Degrassi was all set to end… until Netflix was all like, hey, guys, we’ve got you!
Netflix, and Canada’s Family Channel, are airing 20 brand-new episodes of Degrassi: Next Class, which is slated to be available in 2016.
Netflix teased it all on Twitter yesterday:
And Linda Schuyler, Degrassi‘s co-creator and executive producer, spoke about the new partnership and extended show:
“Following an unprecedented and incredibly supportive 14-year relationship with Bell Media on Degrassi: The Next Generation, we are looking forward to reaching a fresh new audience with Degrassi: Next Class. We are energized and excited to work with Family Channel as we tell stories for the new post-millennial teen cohort known as Generation Z, most of whom weren’t even born when Degrassi returned in 2001.”
Of course, no Degrassi will ever be as great as the Degrassi Goes Hollywood TV movie, thanks to one very special guest star:
