Lady GaGa‘s fighting the good fight!

On Monday, the Bad Romance singer and NY Governor Andrew Cuomo published an essay about the importance of fighting sexual assault on college campuses.

The essay was co-written in order to bring awareness to a bill that the politician introduced back in February.

They wrote:

“The likelihood that college students are not getting the assistance and support they deserve is heartbreaking, and the knowledge that sexual predators are left free to attack again is criminal. This bill will tackle this crisis head-on, because the status quo needs to change.”

We’re not shocked at the Grammy winner’s involvement in the bill — as she has publicly discussed her experience as a sexual assault victim in the past.

Despite being in England, the Applause performer remembered to share the essay to her 47.7 million followers on Twitter.

It seems the urgency is real! The starlet is assisting the Governor since New York lawmakers only have till June 17 to decide on the bill.

Whoa!

If passed, the co-authors claim:

“[It’ll] ensure that all college students in [New York], more than 1 million in total, are protected with comprehensive and uniform procedures and guidelines.”

Wow! We hope this important piece of legislation passes.
