Sad news.

On Thursday, it was confirmed that country singer Jim Ed Brown died at 81-years-old.

The Grand Ole Opry member passed away from cancer at a hospital in Franklin, Tennessee.

The triple threat first became famous with two of his sisters back in the 1950s — as a part of group called The Browns.

It was only last September the You Can Be a Star host revealed he had lung cancer but stated he was in remission.

However, last week Brown’s daughter took to Facebook and asked his fans to keep him in their thoughts as he had to start chemotherapy after his cancer returned.

The Arkansas native was a staple at the Opry and hosted the Country Music Greats Radio Show for more than a decade.

The Opry took to Twitter to memorialize the deceased icon.

Tragic. Our thoughts are with Brown’s family during this trying time.
