How did no one notice this??

Though Mexico didn’t officially make a federal law stating that same sex marriage was legal, its Supreme Court seems to have done the job for them.

While the U.S. Supreme Court is still deciding on the issue, Mexico’s ruled way back on June 3 that all laws banning the marriage of same-sex couples are discriminatory.

The new ruling states with perfect elegance and common sense:

“As the purpose of matrimony is not procreation, there is no justified reason that the matrimonial union be heterosexual, nor that it be stated as between only a man and only a woman. Such a statement turns out to be discriminatory in its mere expression.”

Yasss! Exactly!

So what does this mean for the people of Mexico? Even if the law in your state says you can’t wed, the Court says ignore that law because it’s a bunch of mierda!

The change has come so gradually to Mexico that the world is just starting to pay attention to the quiet, happy revolution.

Mexico City legalized same-sex marriage within its own borders in 2009, and so far 5,297 couples have gotten hitched there.

But based on the latest ruling it looks like no one has to travel to pursue their happiness.

Way to go, Mexico!
