On Tuesday, Nicole Kidman gave an AH-Mazing speech about female empowerment at the Women In Film’s Crystal + Lucy Awards — which ended with the Oscar winner kissing BFF Naomi Watts on stage while wearing a shower cap.
What the what?!
Apparently, the kiss was one 33 years in the making!
During her speech, the Paddington actress referenced that Jane Campion once offered her a role when she was 14-years-old where she would’ve had to kiss a woman while donning a shower cap.
“I am horrified to report that I passed on the part she offered me. My excuse was that I had final exams to study for, but the truth is the part would have required me to appear up on the screen wearing a shower cap and kissing a girl…I wanted to be the kind of actress with long flowing hair [who] kissed boys.”
Wow! But look at you now, Nicole. Activism looks good on you!
“I was not ready to do the kind of work that threatened anybody. Well, today I know better and I say, ‘Jane, if you’re out there├óΓé¼┬ªI’m ready to don this cap.”
The Moulin Rouge performer then asked the audience to ensure that all girls are encouraged to follow their dreams. Aww!
“Let’s stand tall and never ever apologize for it.”
Yay! Cue epic kiss music, please! We’re not sure who loved the smooch more — the audience or the longtime friends. WE KID!
You go girl! Keep doing you, Nicole.
