Well at least someone has her back, kind of…
A man we’re sure many people have been curious to hear from in the whole Rachel Dolezal controversy is Albert Wilkerson, the man Rachel refers to as her “father.”
In an interview on NBC Nightly News on Tuesday, Rachel said of her birth parents, Larry and Ruthanne Dolezal, that there is no biological proof that they’re her parents as she points out that she hasn’t had a DNA test.
As silly as those comments may sound, she views Albert as her father. She met him volunteering at the Human Rights Education Institute in Idaho while Rachel was there as the education director from 2008-2010. So of course as a “father” does, he was fairly supportive of her — well for the most part.
In regards to what Rachel has said and is going through Albert said:
“I am not going to throw her under the bus. There are bigger issues in the country we can be discussing. This is not the movie Imitation of Life, where [an actress] portrays herself as a black female. This is not a movie. I am not going to throw her under the bus.”
The funny thing is, when he was asked about his relationship with Dolezal, Wilkinson said:
“It has been a good acquaintance.”
Hmmm, we’re not 100% sure, but that doesn’t exactly SCREAM fatherly love.
Well maybe Albert is just playing it safe. Either way, we have at least one more tiny piece to the mystery puzzle that is Rachel Dolezal.
