Two law enforcement officials said earlier today that Dylann Roof has confessed to the authorities that he shot and killed nine people Wednesday night at the Emanuel African Methodist Church in Charleston, South Carolina.
It previously came out, via his photo on Facebook, that the jacket he was wearing in a picture displayed two flags well known for being symbols of white supremacists. A cousin of one of the victims had also said that during the events, Dylann said:
“You rape our women and you’re taking over our country. And you have to go.”
Since then, one of the officers involved mentioned that Dylann had told investigators that he wanted to “start a race war.”
There was also more news regarding Dylann acquiring his weapon. Yesterday, it had come out that Roof received a Glock firearm from his father for his birthday. However, this morning, two officials are saying that Roof was the one who bought the gun that was used in the shooting — a .45-caliber handgun — sometime last April at a Charleston gun store.
We still can’t believe that someone would do such a terrible, truly sick, and evil thing. We hope justice serves him what he deserves and our thoughts go out to all of the victims families and loved ones affected.
