America’s Got Talent just lost one of the best judges it’s had — Howard Stern!

The shock jock finally decided to call it quits after participating in a panel of judges that included Heidi Klum, Mel B, and Howie Mandel, in season 10.

According to Stern, he was asked by NBC executives to a decision about whether or not he was coming back for season 11 of AGT by July 4 to give appropriate time to find a replacement and set up auditions.

Along with the announcement, Stern also teased that he might have another TV gig coming up and also said that there’s a chance that Simon Cowell — who’s the executive producer on AGT — might be interested in taking his seat on the judges panel!

This isn’t overly surprising news as it isn’t the first time Howard has thought about leaving the show though. In 2013, before Stern came back for a third season with the show, he said:

“I really, really did struggle . . . because I’ve been working a long time. I really wanted to decide if this was going to take away too much free time,” he said at the time. “Did I really still enjoy doing it? Did I have something to say? Is it something I should be involved with still?”

In fact, this most recent season of AGT was moved to New York just so he could continue to do his Sirius radio show he has.

Stern only joined the show in 2012, as he replaced Piers Morgan when he left, but Howard made quite the impression. He was definitely one of our favorites and he’ll be missed.
