Donuts are supposed to be a momentary escape from reality into a world of magical, sugary goodness.
But for Ria Findlay, a Krispy Kreme donut turned out to be filled with nightmares!
After the mom-to-be bit into her caramel donut, she was shocked to discover that a latex glove was baked inside of it!
Findlay dished about the moment the realization of what she had just bitten hit her:
“As it was my first, I was discussing flavors of the filling with my colleague next to me. It was like: ├óΓé¼╦£Oooh there’s caramel, and cream and oh what’s this blue stuff?'”
The “blue stuff” turned out to be a latex glove, which sent the 7 months pregnant woman’s gag reflex into “overload.”
Findlay posted a photo of the doughnut on Instagram, which probed a response from Krispy Kreme UK:
So this happened today… A rubber prep glove was inside the #krispykreme I was eating ├░┼╕╦£┬╖. #doughnut #donut #wtf #krispykremeuk #traumatisedA photo posted by Ria Findlay (@ree__ree) on Jun 18, 2015 at 9:20am PDT
The donut company issued the following statement regarding the rubbery filling:
“We are extremely sorry to hear about this incident. We take our food hygiene very seriously and are currently conducting a full investigation into the matter. Krispy Kreme has an exemplary food safety record and we endeavor to take care at all stages of our food production process to ensure that products are produced in a hygienic and safe manner. Once our investigations are complete, we will write to the customer to advise her of our findings.”
Hopefully, Krispy Kreme looks into the sticky situation and, of course, gives Findlay some free donut swag to make up for their mistake.
