We knew it was a lot but this is CRAZY!
It comes as no surprise that Prince Charles is the one who mainly takes care of all the costs of everything.
Charles does so from receiving an income from the Duchy of Cornwall which is a EXTREMELY massive estate that’s given to the heir to the throne in order to fund both their private and official lives — and daddy takes care of his kids!
Charles’ estate office at Clarence House released its annual report that states from March 31, 2014 to the same date in 2015, the income during that time was $31.1 million.
The palace also shed a little light on the cost of various aspects of running the official lives of Prince William and Princess Kate.
The cost for the official wardrobes for William, Kate, and Prince Harry, as well as staff and travel, are taken care of by Charles, who this past year used $4.6 million to fund all this.
However, the $4.6 million doesn’t include the refurbishment or costs at Anmer Hall, William and Kate’s country home. The family pays for the upkeep and renovations of that location themselves.
Charles’ official budget also doesn’t cover William and Kate’s personal staff ├óΓé¼ΓÇ£ which includes nanny Maria Turrion Borrallo and the new Anmer Hall housekeeper Sadie Rice.
The money from Charles does help go towards the running of their Kensington Palace office though, which includes their private secretaries as well as the press team.
And quite a bit of the cost actually comes from travel as trips like William’s getaway to Japan and China earlier this year cost a cool $109,000 in flights. Whereas the unforgettable trip he took with Kate to New York last December clocked in at $26,000.
Harry’s not helping keep costs down either as his trips to places like Brazil and Chile last summer with his staff cost about $135,000.
Though we don’t get to know every little detail as the palace reported they “can’t identify how much of it is allocated to their office,” this does give us a solid idea of how much it truly costs to be royalty!
