The Supreme Court overturned the country’s ban on same sex marriage Friday morning, and the country is rejoicing!
But not everybody was down with the cause. Perhaps some of y’all have seen things like this on Twitter:
First it was higher taxes, then it was Obamacare, now it’s gay marriage??!? That’s it, I’M MOVING TO CANADA!

There’s just one problem with that… same sex marriage has been legal in Canada for a decade!
Yep, with the passing of the Civil Marriage Act on July 20, 2005, Canada made same sex marriage legal nationwide ten years before the U.S.!
In fact, gay marriage is legal in a lot of countries — so if you’re planning to leave America because of the same sex marriage ruling, you should probably avoid all these countries, too:
Netherlands (legal since 2001)
South Africa (2006)
New Zealand (2013)
The United Kingdom (2014)
The United States (2015)
Plus, same sex marriage is expected to become the law of the land soon in Slovenia, Finland, Ireland, and across all of Mexico!
Fear not, bigots — there are still plenty of other places for you to live. Uranus comes to mind… LOLz!
