If there’s one thing we can count on Amy Schumer for, it’s the truth!
Speaking at the press conference for her new film Trainwreck, Schumer gave reporters just that on Friday, discussing everything from the way she looks, to flipping gender role in relationships!
When asked her thoughts on how her looks work in Hollywood, Schumer was refreshingly honest:
“It’s very therapeutic for me to be like, ‘Yes, I’m not going to look like a malnourished bird,’ and I like speaking to that, as well as speaking to my work and what I’m doing.”
Then, Schumer took down those who think her new film is all about a serial dating woman with an act-like-a-man attitude:
“A lot of people have asked me if I intended to kind of flip the gender roles like I’m playing the guy, and that’s not been my experience at all. This is how I am and how a lot of girls are where the guy ends up being a little more sensitive and more invested. So the scene where I get high and then John [Cena’s] character looks through my phone, and then instead of comforting him I ask if I can leave ├óΓé¼ΓÇ£ that did happen in my real life.”
Preach, girl! It’s about time Hollywood started flipping the script on how women are portrayed on camera in relationships, and it’s great to see someone as funny and smart as Schumer help lead the way on this one!
Trainwreck, directed by Judd Apatow and starring Schumer and Bill Hader, will hit theaters on July 17. Will U be watching?!
