‘Pointless’ And A ‘Carny-Show’ — Uptight San Franciscans Totally Don’t Want Kim Kardashian Speaking At Their Club!

no title

Tough day for Kim K!

Kim Kardashian West is slated to speak at an education organization in San Francisco Tuesday night, but if preliminary reports are any indication, it won’t be without controversy!

The 34-year-old reality star will speak and sign copies of her book Selfish at the Commonwealth Club of California — an institution that’s hosted previous speakers including Martin Luther King, Jr., Ronald Reagan, and Franklin Delano Roosevelt. Retired state judge LaDoris Cordell will be hosting the session in question.

There’s only one problem — the organization is facing big-time backlash on social media for bringing a reality TV star in to speak at such a prestigious place!

One uptight Facebook user commented on the club’s page:

“Judge LaDoris Cordell is a brilliant and accomplished woman. I’m very disappointed she doesn’t consider this carny-show beneath her dignity.”

Another classy individual added some deep thoughts to the controversy:

“That is f*****g disgusting how people pay to see someone who is pointless and not worth anything.”

Pointless enough to take the time to comment on — LOLz!

A rep for the speaking outfit defended their choice, though, posting about Kim’s relevancy and public life:

“We hear ya! Commonwealth Club and INFORUM guests should strike a nerve from time to time. Agree with her or disagree with her, we’re looking forward to a spirited conversation and a different perspective. We expect to have a fun, insightful conversation with Kim and invite you to join us.”

Here, here!

This isn’t the first time that Kim has stepped outside of her comfort zone to appear or talk in a place away from her norm!

The Keeping Up with the Kardashians star recently appeared on NPR‘s Wait Wait … Don’t Tell Me! and also spoke about her mobile app Kim Kardashian: Hollywood at Re/Code’s Code/Mobile Conference last year.

You keep doin’ your thing, Kim — let the haters hate, and we’ll see who turns out to be “pointless” in the end!
