Somehow this happened…
The good news is that Reelz, a New Mexico cable channel is only seen in 60% of homes across America which means it most likely won’t see the viewership that it had last season of 5.5 million people. Dumped by NBC and Univision over Donald Trump’s remarks about “rapists” immigrants, the beauty pageant will still be televised out of Baton Rouge on July 12 after all thanks to some new friends in cable. In a deal with the Trump co-owned Miss Universe Organization, Reelz have picked up the exclusive rights to this year’s Miss USA pageant.
The CEO of the cable network, Stan E. Hubbard, released a statement regarding the decision saying:
“The decision on the part of Reelz to acquire the rights to the Miss USAPageant was based on our belief that this special event, and the women who compete in it, are an integral part of American tradition ├óΓé¼┬ª The Miss USA Pageant is a perfect fit on Reelz where movies, entertainment and celebrity come together every day of the year.”
We can’t say we’re thrilled about the decision, but if it’s going to happen, we’re just glad it’s going to be a network where a large chunk of the nation can just ignore it!
