Joel McHale is a funny guy.
The 2015 ESPYS host said the former Olympian absolutely deserves the prestigious recognition because of everything she’s gone through recently:
“There’s no question that this is a monumental and historic moment. I mean, she’s the first. To [transition from male to female] is courageous and difficult. I can’t imagine that it was an easy decision or process.”
But not everyone shares this sentiment.
Sports broadcast Bob Costas has said that — even though he support’s the 65-year-old — he doesn’t agree with ESPN‘s decision to award her the honor.
However, Joel feels that when Caitlyn won the Olympic decathlon, she was “the biggest athlete next to Muhammad Ali,” and that the incredible journey she’s been on definitely warrants her to be a deserving recipient.
But if the Kardashians show up, they better be ready to be roasted! He said:
“If you’re sitting there and you’re super-famous, I’ll probably be mentioning you.”
We’re glad that Joel is joining in congratulating Caitlyn on the amazing award she’ll receive next week!
