We’ve been hearing way too many tales of Hollywood sexism lately.
And now Amanda Seyfried has one that’s just too much — ten times too much!
The Ted 2 star said in an interview that her own experience with inequality was way worse than 70 cents on the dollar!
“A few years ago, on one of my big-budget films, I found I was being paid 10% of what my male co-star was getting, and we were pretty even in status. I think people think that just because I’m easy-going and game to do things I’ll just take as little as they offer…”
But the problem wasn’t that Amanda wasn’t getting enough — it was the principal. She explained:
“It’s not about how much you get, it’s about how fair it is.”
Amanda wouldn’t reveal which male costar she was referring to, but there are enough clues to narrow it down (Our money is on Channing Tatum in Dear John).
But regardless of who the actor was, the fact he got paid ten times as much as Amanda when they’re in the same position??
Disgusting. We’re glad more and more stars are speaking out.
And, as Amanda says, actresses will have to put their feet down and decide if they’re “willing to walk away from something” if the money isn’t equal.
