Oh hell no!
That’s the official moniker for Syfy‘s latest film, Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No!, and probably also what TV executives are saying today after getting the Nielsen ratings back from the Wednesday night showing!
Sharknado 3 brought in 2.8 million viewers for the special — which sounds good enough until you remember that Sharknado 2 brought in more than a million more than that when it premiered. Ouch!
The Wednesday night third installment of the franchise scored a 0.9 rating in the 18-49 age demographic, which basically means it was down 31 percent from last year’s Sharknado sequel. The original Sharknado back in 2013 brought in just 1.4 million viewers, so at least Sharknado 3 still doubled that, despite falling way behind the sequel in the ratings.
Does it matter, though?! Despite falling significantly in total numbers, the third installment was still the most-watched original telecast for Syfy since Sharknado 2, and it was the top original telecast of the day on cable, so it still did pretty well!
And don’t you worry — there will be a fourth Sharknado film in the franchise, but it’s due out next July.
