Say it ain’t so!
Channing Tatum confirmed over a year ago and then further teased the world at Comic-Con that he would be joining the X-Men film universe in a spinoff movie playing the character of Gambit. Well that may not exactly be the case anymore!
A new report claims that the 22 Jump Street star might be backing away from the project!
X-Men characters and properties belong to 20th Century Fox and just recently the studio has been testing several young actresses to star opposite of Tatum so they could begin shooting ASAP.
Over the last year or so, Tatum has talked quite a bit about Gambit and it seemed to be a passion project for him.
But it seems that Tatum could have bigger aspirations as he was originally supposed to direct his first film with his producing partner Reid Carolin after Gambit, and timelines could have always changed, causing Tatum to shift his priorities.
If Tatum does drop out, we don’t know whether or not he will still remain as a producer with Carolin on the project but honestly, we just hope he can work it out!
Though there probably are other actors who could take on the role of the card-throwing Cajun, we are definitely getting excited about Magic Mike‘s take on the role!
