After the tragic shooting of Cecil the Lion, organizations are rallying in the fight for animal conservation.
After Minnesota dentist Walter Palmer illegally killed the protected lion in Zimbabwe, Ty has created a Cecil the Lion Beanie Baby as an animal rights fundraiser! Company founder and chairman Ty Warner said:
“Hopefully, this special Beanie Baby will raise awareness for animal conservation and give comfort to all saddened by the loss of Cecil.”
On Monday, the company said they would pledge all profits from its sales to WildCRU — the Wildlife Conservation Research Unit of University of Oxford “in memory of the beloved lion tragically killed.”
A Ty spokeswoman revealed that the single version of Cecil the Lion Beanie Baby will be available for purchase at the end of September for $5.99!
This isn’t the first time the company has supported animal causes. In 2004, Ty created a series of Beanie Babies for World Wildlife Federation. The company has also produced special Beanie Babies for zoos and aquariums across the nation!
We think it’s great that awareness is resulting from this tragedy, and we urge those who plan on buying the Cecil Beanie Baby to keep the tag on to retain its value! You’ll thank us later!
