Disney’s Alice In Wonderland Tweet Sparks Outrage On Anniversary Of Nagasaki Atomic Bomb

This is bad PR at its worst.

Walt Disney Japan had a scandal on its hands over the weekend when they sent out a rather insensitive tweet on the 70th Anniversary of the Nagasaki atomic bomb.

The House of Mouse was trying to remember the victims with a kindhearted reference to a classic Alice in Wonderland song saying, “A very merry unbirthday to you!”

However, things got lost in translation because the message ended up being a rather cruel, “congratulations on a not special day.”

Yikes.

After Twitter users pointed out the mistake, Disney apologized for their slip up, saying:

“Our deep apologies for causing discomfort.”

We get that there was no ill-will in the act and it was all just a language issue, but still, that’s a pretty unfortunate mess up.

What do U think about Walt Disney Japan’s scandalous tweet??
