The TV chef was diagnosed with cancer back in March, and underwent the procedure in May. But now, she has to go under the knife once again.
The 49-year-old took to Facebook to announce that she will have surgery on Tuesday, explaining that she’s experiencing issues with infection:
“Andrew and I have decided that tomorrow I will go back into surgery. I did my very best to avoid this (when I tell you I did everything, I mean everything ├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥ modern, Eastern and holistic) but infection is an incredible monster. I am a long way from where I was and a long way from where I need to be, but at this point I understand that right now I just need to complete this unexpected phase of a tough journey.”
She then went on to compare her battle with cancer to a tennis match, posting a positive perspective about the upcoming operation:
“Right now the ball is in my court and it’s time for a mean backhand- and I am taking that shot (And just so you know I DO, in fact, have one mean backhand on the tennis court! It’s actually stronger than my forehand – solid, swift and accurate). So my plan for tomorrow is game, set, match!”
She also used the opportunity to share her support for everyone out there battling breast cancer:
“And to be absolutely clear what I am going through is nothing compared to what many of my sisters experience – to them and their families and support systems I say: Stay strong, focus on the light and I send you my love.
When I am done I WILL be lending you my backhand.”
She also uploaded a sweet selfie with her longtime love Governor Andrew Cuomo. You can see her full post (below):
