This is so heartwarming!
An 18-year-old model from Australia named Madeline Stuart will walk at New York Fashion Week — big deal, right? Tons of models strut their stuff at the biggest fashion weeks of the year.
Oh yeah, well Stuart is noteworthy beyond other models because she’s doing this with Down syndrome, and still dominating the catwalk. Gurl, werk!!!
Stuart, who’s been in high demand as a model across the world this year, recently had a shoot with photographer Erica A. Nichols to show off her looks — ch-ch-check it out (above) and see the gorgeous Stuart, worked on by hair stylists Myo Lai and Yvette Ray, make-up artists Jessica Chu and Mandy Phan, and stylists Daniel Flores and Edith Mendoza.
Stuart looks AH-mazing!!
Madeline’s mom, Rosanne, spoke to reporters about the world being ready for her daughter to walk in NYFW:
“The world is ready. The world wants to be inclusive, it just hasn’t had anyone on such a platform that they were able to do it easily. I remember when I was a child at school, people were homophobic and things like that, and now it’s cool to be gay! Imagine in 10 years what society will be like for people with disabilities. It’s not going to be how it is now, it’s going to be the norm. It’s probably going to be cool to hang out with someone who has an intellectual disability because you know that they care more about emotions than they do about the materialistic world. Everyone’s going to want that friend to teach them what true love is.”
This is a wonderful story, and we are sooo happy for Madeline — who oh by the way, kills it in photo shoots!!
