This is so crazy!
George Zimmerman, best known for killing Trayvon Martin but also for being arrested in a violent domestic dispute, being involved in a road rage incident, threatening his father in law with a gun, and aiming a shotgun at his girlfriend is making headlines again — and again, it’s for all the wrong reasons!
Zimmerman is selling paintings of the Confederate flag (because of course he is, right?!) and teaming up with a man named Andy Hallinan and his company Florida Gun Supply.
Zimmerman is selling Confederate flag prints like the one pictured (above) to help pay for Hallinan’s legal defense fund, after the gun store owner fielded attention — and a lawsuit, and a federal investigation — when he declared his gun store to be a “Muslim-Free Zone.”
Is everybody in this story cray?!
Well… yes. But none more than the buyers. Zimmerman’s last piece of art ended up selling for $110,000!
Now he and Hallinan are selling prints of his Confederate flag painting to give buyers a shot to own a copy without shelling out a hundred grand.
But you’re in luck! If you buy a print (they sell for about $50), you will be entered into a giveaway to win the original painting, too. The website offering the artwork has an information page about the giveaway, with special emphasis on the proceeds:
“George and Andy will be splitting the proceeds – and it will go to support their legal funds, living expenses, and advancing their mission to change the country. A percentage of the proceeds will also go directly to the Boys and Girls Club to help support the next generation!”
Supporting the next generation? OK. We don’t like the sound of that “mission” though…
The artwork depicts the Confederate (they call it the “battle”) flag, as well as the phrase “the 2nd protects the 1st,” referencing the United States’ second amendment (the right to bear arms) and the first amendment (the right to free speech).
Here’s a “documentary” explaining George’s involvement with Hallinan and the artwork (below):
What do U think — does George Zimmerman have a future as a sort-of-racist artist??
