Well this sounds great!
The Untitled Aretha Franklin Project has been in development for years and will depict the singer’s rise to stardom in the ├óΓé¼╦£60s and ├óΓé¼╦£70s as well as her relationship with her abusive ex-husband Ted White.
With what’s sure to be a dramatic role with a need for some serious vocals, so who better to play the part than Jennifer Hudson!
The American Idol alum hasn’t won the part yet, but one of her representatives has confirmed that conversations have taken place for the part. Hudson’s been keeping busy though as her most recent role was on the hit series Empire and she’s expected to come back for its second season!
A couple years ago, Franklin talked a bit about her biopic saying:
“The singing is certainly going to be a very, very integral and important part of it.”
Adding that she wants the film to be accurate but also:
“… present the facts and be as creative as possible with them.”
We think Hudson would be a great choice for the Respect singer and can’t wait to see what she does with the part if she gets it!
What do you think? Is there anyone better suited to play the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame singer?
