This is so sad.
At least seven people are dead after an air show crash in Sussex on Saturday.
A Hawker Hunter jet crashed into vehicles on the A27 highway during the Shoreham Airshow on Saturday afternoon, with at least fourteen more people injured in the accident, in addition to those dead.
According to Ailish Southall, a witness to the crash who was driving on that highway with her family, the plane came down very close to her car:
“We were waiting for it to go back up and it didn’t – it seemed to kind of split in two. There were huge amounts of fire and we ran from the car to kind of avoid the debris because we were about 15 metres away, we were just across the road from where the accident happened.”
Others tweeted what happened as they witnessed the plane climb up into the sky, attempt a loop, and fail to finish it out, coming far too close to the ground to avert tragedy:
So, so awful.
Video of the accident was captured by a person at the air show admiring planes, but please note — it is a video of the crash itself, should you not want to watch (below):
Our thoughts are with all the families affected by today’s accident in the UK.
