Now, though, show spokesman Marc Thibodeau has confirmed Jean-Baptiste died Friday night after falling from a fire escape in New York City. He was just 21 years old.

In addition to making history with his role, Les Mis had been Jean-Baptiste’s Broadway debut after graduating from college earlier this year.
