Fans SLAM Chrissie Hynde Following Her Controversial Comments About Rape

chrissie hynde fan backlash

Oh no!

ICYMI: On Sunday, The Pretenders singer Chrissie Hynde opened up about her own experience with sexual assault — but shocked MANY by claiming that sometimes women are to blame for getting raped. HUH?!

The I’ll Stand By You singer stated:

“If I’m walking around in my underwear and I’m drunk. Who else’s fault can it be? Technically speaking, however you want to look at it, this was all my doing and I take full responsibility.”

Whoa! That’s so sad, no woman should ever feel responsible for such a horrendous act forced upon them. We can’t say we’re 100% surprised she’s receiving so much backlash.

What’s even sadder is that Miz Hynde didn’t even realize she was saying anything controversial.

She reflected:

“I don’t think I am saying anything controversial, am I?”

Whomp, whomp.

Nonetheless, many of the 63-year-old’s fans have since taken to Twitter to express their disdain (below) for the Brass In Pocket performer’s comments.

We hope for Chrissie’s sake she learns from this experience and chooses not victim blame in the future.

Fingers crossed.
