Many would consider Neve Campbell‘s most iconic role to be Sidney Prescott in Wes Craven‘s Scream franchise.
While the actress hasn’t worked with the Hollywood horror legend since 2011’s Scream 4, she reflects on the impact that Craven had on her career in the wake of his passing at age 76.
In a statement released on Monday, the 41-year-old highlighted his creativity, kindness, and humor, saying:
“We lost a great deal of magic yesterday. I’m devastated to hear of Wes’s passing. My life wouldn’t be what it is without him. I will be forever grateful for his brilliant direction, his wicked sense of humor and his consummate kindness and friendship. He has entertained us all for decades and inspired so many to follow in his path. I loved Wes dearly and will miss him always. Thank you Wes!!!”
The Scream franchise is currently living on in the form of an MTV horror show of the same name, of which Craven served as an executive producer.
While the director admitted he had very little to do with the series, an MTV spokesperson revealed they will pay tribute to the late director during Tuesday’s season one finale.
It’s unknown just how the network will honor the master of horror, so check out the Scream finale Tuesday at 10pm EST on MTV to find out.
Our thoughts are with Craven’s family and friends during this tough time.
