We’re just glad they’re okay!
In a story that’s generally reserved for episodes of Lassie, a 4-year-old boy and his dog were recently rescued from a well near Jackson, Mississippi on Monday.
The boy was trapped in the well for about three hours after he fell down 23-feet through a small 18-inch opening. The little tyke fell in about 5pm yesterday after reportedly hearing the barking of his dog — who had been trapped in the well itself for about a week!
It took a little longer than expected to rescue the lad because the 4-year-old was initially having trouble grabbing onto the rope that was lowered to him — but the boy and his dog were both eventually rescued.
Clifford Galey, the Lincoln County Civil Defense Director talked about getting the boy out safely and said:
“The most important thing is the child is in good shape right now. He’s cold, he’s dirty and he’s hungry, and we promised him a ride on a fire truck and we’re going to give that to him before we leave here tonight.”
The boy was taken to the hospital just to get checked out, but it seems like this story about a boy and his dog is all wrapped up with a happy ending and all!
