This is so scary!

Yesterday a British Airways plane caught fire while on the runway at Las Vegas’ McCarren International Airport, injuring 14 people!

The plane — which was a Boeing 777 — was set to takeoff to London’s Gatwick airport at about 4pm yesterday when all of a sudden a fire broke out in the left engine.

It seems things could have been a lot worse as 159 passengers as well as 13 crew members were aboard the plane when the fire broke out. Luckily everyone was safely evacuated from the plane within a couple minutes and the fire was put out after about five minutes.

Though some passengers were injured as they attempted to exit the plane by sliding down the inflatable chute to evacuate the plane, only 14 were taken to medical care for “minor injuries.”

Paramedics were on the scene and made sure to check everyone out as well as check for any respiratory distress in the victims.

Philip Fields, one of the passengers, said of the event:

“It was frightening. I could see the flames through the window.”

We can’t even begin to imagine how scary it would be to be on that plane. We’re just glad it was at an airport when it happened and there were no major injuries.

We wish the best for all the victims involved and hope for a quick and full recovery for anyone who’s injured!
