Ouch! Batman v Superman Director Throws Some Villainous Shade At Marvel’s ‘Flavor Of The Week’ Movies Like Ant-Man!

Don’t expect Zack Snyder to direct an Avengers movie anytime soon!

The Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice director is fond of the film’s title characters — two DC Comics heros that, according to Snyder, are “transcendent” of the superhero genre.

In a recent interview, Snyder defended the Dark Knight and Man Of Steel in response to Steven Spielberg‘s comments that “there will be a time when the superhero movie goes the way of the Western.”

The 49-year-old agreed with the legendary filmmaker — but only when it came to superheroes from the competing Marvel Universe! He said:

“I feel like he’s right. But I feel like Batman and Superman are transcendent of superhero movies in a way, because they’re Batman and Superman. They’re not just, like, the flavor of the week Ant-Man ├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥ not to be mean, but whatever it is. What is the next Blank-Man?”

Cover your ears, Paul Rudd!

Snyder might hold his DC heros in a higher regard, but he admitted to playing favorites in Dawn of Justice by giving Ben Affleck‘s Batman a little more screen time than Henry Cavill‘s Superman, saying:

“Only in that because it’s a different Batman than the Batman that was in the Chris Nolan movies, so we have a little bit more explaining to do and you just had a whole Superman movie. But I think only in that way, because you need to understand where Batman is with everything. And that’s more toward the beginning, but it evens back out as it goes on.”

Of course this isn’t the first time Marvel and DC have gone head-to-head! And the last time, Captain America: Civil War pushed Batman v Superman away to a different premiere date!
